We have been so busy making the most of our last couple of weeks in Ireland that I’ve had little time for blogging. Declan arrived in Dublin on Sunday and found his way to Kilkee by Monday evening. Meanwhile, Eoin and I made a road trip up to North Mayo and took the scenic route toward home, down through the mountains (hills?) during one of the many foggy, mist-ridden days we’ve experienced this summer. We were rewarded with some of the most magnificent sights I’ve seen to date – and this is saying a lot in a country that dazzles my eyes almost continually! Nearly on my way out the door again today, I only had a moment to download a slew of photos, many that barely do justice to the reality of what we saw, and drop one in here that I particularly liked. I snapped this photograph on the road between Louisburgh in Co. Mayo and Leenane, Co. Galway – a road that extended our trip by an extra day because we couldn’t get enough of it in just two!

What a beautiful picture, Janet! It is the kind of picture that dreams are made of – certainly your dreams of Ireland. Will you frame it?

If I were to paint a picture like that nobody would think it was an actual place! I may frame it, if I can figure out how to get it out of my computer!

You can send the file online to Osco or Walgreens when you get home. It would look fantastic framed, Janet.

Thanks for the info Penny – can you believe I’ve never sent a file online to be printed and didn’t even know it could be done?

I’m so glad you finally got up to Mayo. The drive from Louisburgh to Leenane is beyond spectacular. Mountains, sea and sky seem to outdo each other in adding to the sheer magnificance of the place. The picture is lovely and just about sums it up. (Can’t believe you’re on your last 2 weeks there. Summer is flying by.)

I’m glad too Patricia! It took two summers but I finally got up there and it was definitely worth the drive and the two B&B’s! This summer really has flown by and it will feel different leaving this year than it did last year.

You’ve got it! Can you believe that is just a photo I snapped, scene as is, no changes made to it?

Hi Peggy, it’s great to get a comment from you! Being there is definitely very different than the suburbs of Chicago, that is for sure! Just returned last night after a very long journey that involved a delay in Boston – woke up this morning not knowing where I was until the humidity, and the sound of the tv, reminded me!

Thank you and you’re welcome Cindy! And that was just one tiny portion of the drive, the scenery before it and after it was magnificent!

This photo really shows it as it was, I would recommend to anyone driving around Ireland that they drive from Louisburgh toward Leenane and on. That is beautiful country in a beautiful country!

My bad, I’m too anal to allow my typo to remain in my last post without noting that I do know how to use English properly. I will share our pictures with you when we’re all back in Elmhurst.

Linda, don’t worry about typos in comments, they will fit right in with my own typos throughout this blog. You don’t know how many corrections I make after publishing a post, there are always things I miss! My camera is a digital Fujifilm on the lower end of the quality scale. Ireland is just very photogenic!
Happy anniversary to you and Ken! Have a great time in San Francisco – it’s a beautiful city. Life’s funny – you’re in San Francisco celebrating your 30th and I’m back in Elmhurst seeing my 9-year-old off to his first day of 4th grade!
